Biography: Dr. Allison Barrett, a native of Atlanta, GA, is a graduate of The Westminster Schools. She earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Davidson College and her medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine. She completed her Emergency Medicine residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in 2014, where she continues to practice and teach.
Dr. Barrett serves as Associate Clerkship Director for the Department of Emergency Medicine and plays an active role in medical student education through curriculum development, advising, and mentorship. She is a faculty advisor for the Emergency Medicine Interest Group and mentors students in the Introduction to Clinical Medicine course. Her educational leadership has earned her the “Excellence in Medical Student Education Award” (2016, 2017), the “Trailblazer in Education Award” (2019), and induction into the Society of Excellence in Academic Education (2024).
She serves on numerous committees within the School of Medicine and the Department of Emergency Medicine and is a CORS Messenger for the Chief of Staff.
Board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Barrett is a member of ACEP, CORD, and CDEM. She lives in Jackson, MS with her husband and two children. She enjoys tennis, pickleball, art, music, and travel.
