Office of Academic Assessment
Welcome to the Office of Assessment, a division of the Office of Academic Effectiveness. We are located in the Office of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs on the second floor of the Learning Resources building, across from the Rowland Medical Library.
The Office of Assessment at the University of Mississippi Medical Center functions to educate and provide best practice resources for tracking the outcomes and effectiveness of institutional instructional programs and administrative-educational support services. To demonstrate compliance for accreditation, and uphold the highest standards for continuous quality improvement in alignment with UMMC's academic mission, the Office of Assessment coordinates ongoing, systematic, planning and reporting efforts through management of institutional assessment procedures. Assessment findings and data are used for targeted performance enhancement, and leveraged to promote excellence in student-centered training and service initiatives.
The UMMC Office of Assessment was established to provide institutional oversight of academic program assessment, and systematic appraisal of student support services and administrative processes. The unit is responsible for instilling an institution-wide culture of assessment that is grounded in evidenced based-instructional design and delivery, as well as data-driven decision-making. A primary focus of the Office of Assessment is to support program assessment by providing a framework for continued analysis of student performance and development. In combination with these goals, the Office of Assessment provides resources to monitor and guide efforts in student engagement and satisfaction.
The Office of Assessment operates to assure compliance with regional accreditation requirements for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and functions as an administrative support area under the UMMC Office of Academic Effectiveness in the Office of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. Additionally, the office offers training and consultative sessions on learning and assessment for faculty members and program administrators.
