Medical Staff Services

Medical Staff Services performs medical staff and credentialing functions for University of Mississippi Medical Center (University Hospitals and Health System), including the Jackson, Grenada and Holmes County campuses. Medical Staff Services at UMMC also serves the managed care and telehealth programs by providing delegated credentialing to over 80 managed care and telehealth entities.

Our department processes new and reappointment applications for medical staff and advanced practice professional staff. The medical staff at the Jackson campus of University of Mississippi Medical Center currently has more than 700 physician and dentist members in 19 clinical departments. Combined with advanced practice providers and the staffs of Grenada and Holmes County, approximately 1,100 providers hold membership and/or privileges at a UMMC facility.

Medical Staff Services supports the Medical Executive and Credentials Committees, along with the Medical Staff Quality Review Council. The department is primarily responsible for maintenance of Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and medical staff policies. The department publishes Medical Staff Update on a periodic basis.
