Biography
Dr. Xinchun Zhou obtained his MD degree in his early 20th in China, where he enjoyed in caring of clinical patients as an attending physician and obtained his PhD degree in his early 30th. Since then, he begun to work in the University of the University of Mississippi Medical Center till now. During 30 years services in UMC, he worked as research fellows, resident trained in pathology program for patient service, and faculty in the Department of Pathology. As a Principal Investigator, Dr. Zhou's mission is to conduct dedicate research on cancer and non-cancer diseases in the context of pathogenesis, discovering diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers, prevention, treatment and disparities, to provide lab services in patient care, and to pursue a commitment to devote to train students in research at levels of high school, undergraduates, graduates, residents and research fellows. Dr. Zhou is of great team spirit in conduction of collaborative scientific research with intra departmental faculty, in campus colleges, and scientists national and international wide. With great enthusiasm, he'd like to continuously contribute his spirit, intelligence and hard work to research on medical science and patient services.

| I have provided transmission electron microscope (TEM) service for patient care 2-3 weeks each year since I became faculty in the Department of Pathology. It is planned to cover full coverage of electron microscopy service for clinical patients starting on November 2023. It is worth noting, with technology of electron microscopy, I have collaborated with several scientists in UMMC to investigate the association of ultra-structures with cardiovascular and renal pathophysiological changes. The study results have been published in journals with high reputation. We are discussing further collaboration in impact of ultrastructural alterations on physiological functions in cardiovascular and renal systems with Dr. John Hall’s lab and other scientists in house and out campus. 1.
