Biography

Dr. Samar Rezq got her B.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2005 and M.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2010 from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Zagazig University, Egypt. She was awarded Ph.D. Scholarship to the USA from the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education in 2012 to get her Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology from Brody School of Medicine, East Carolina University, NC, the USA in 2016. She returned to her home country Egypt in 2016 and worked as Lecturer of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Zagazig University, Egypt. She worked as a Postdoctoral fellow (January 2019-May 2021) then as an instructor at the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology, University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson, MS, USA. She was awarded Endocrinology and Metabolism Section 2020 Research Recognition award and Renal Section 2021 Research Recognition Award from the American Physiological Society, the 2021 Leadership Junior Faculty Award (WIN conference 2021), and the 2022 Early career Faculty Travel Award from the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Her research focuses on the role of MicroRNA-21 in the metabolic derangements in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and the molecular mechanisms involved in androgen-mediated renal injury in females. She has a total of 30 publications, 13 as the first or co-first author and 9 as the corresponding author.
