Biography
Dr. Bill Moskowitz is Professor with tenure and immediate past Chief, Division of Pediatric Cardiology, and an interventional cardiologist. His past research focused on childhood passive smoking effects on coronary risks which was cited in the Surgeon General's Report and the EPA Report on Respiratory Health Effects of Passive Smoking. He worked to design a cardiac assist device as a bridge for the failing Fontan patient. As leader of an obesity work group, he created an informatics infrastructure to support the consistent utilization of best practices and to improve the ability to conduct quality assurance and research initiatives related to prevention/assessment and treatment of pediatric overweight and obesity. He is a past President of the Virginia AAP. Nationally, he served on the AAP Committee on Federal Government Affairs, is past Chair, Committee on Pediatric Workforce and is a member of the Committee on Child Heath Finance. He is an elected member of the American Pediatric Society. Through World Pediatrics he established the National Program for the Prevention and Control of Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic Heart Disease in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. He received the 2019 Distinguished Physician Alumnus Award from USF Health Morsani College of Medicine Alumni Society.
