Biography
Matthew C. Morris, Ph.D., Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, received his doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Vanderbilt University. He completed his internship at the Vanderbilt University - Department of Veterans Affairs Internship in Professional Psychology and postdoctoral training in psychobiology at the Center for Molecular and Behavioral Neuroscience at Meharry Medical College where he was promoted to Associate Professor before coming to UMMC. Dr. Morris has clinical expertise in the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder, and chronic pain. His program of research is focused on trauma-related mental and physical health conditions, including psychosocial and neuroendocrine risk factors for PTSD and persistent pain, and understanding the determinants of racial/ethnic disparities in acute and chronic pain.
