Biography

Dr. Lecretia A. Buckley is the education quality improvement director in the School of Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. As education QI director, Buckley manages the monitoring and reporting of progress and outcomes of the medical education program. Dr. Buckley is an associate professor and Vice Chair for Faculty Development in the Department of Advanced Biomedical Education in the School of Medicine and an associate professor in the Department of Population Health Science in the John D. Bower School of Population Health.

Dr. Buckley completed the Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) Certificate Program with the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) in 2024. As a part of the program, she is leading in the development of the Educational Research Development Program, a seven-module program that provides instruction on foundational concepts related to educational research.

Buckley assumed her role as education QI director after serving four years as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Purdue University, Lafayette, IN, and 10 years as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistical Sciences at Jackson State University, Jackson, MS. In her faculty positions, she led program accreditation reviews, chaired a department assessment committee, and served on a university assessment team giving her expertise in accreditation related activities such as the collection and analysis of data, identifying program objectives to enhance student learning, and leading programs in revisions designed to enhance student learning.

Buckley holds a Ph.D. in education and a master of science degree in the teaching of mathematics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a bachelor of science in mathematics from Tougaloo College, Tougaloo, MS. Buckley’s publications and grants focus on improving student learning though professional development in teacher education.
