Biography
Dr. Bell is a native of Jackson, MS. She received her medical doctorate from the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) and subsequently completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology there. Dr. Bell had the distinct honor of serving as Chief Resident and received many accolades during that time, including the "Best Resident Teacher Award" and the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine Award for Excellence in Obstetrics. She has experience in both the private and academic sectors. After being in private practice, Dr. Bell decided to bring her talents back home to her medical alma mater. She is now an academic OB/GYN hospitalist at UMMC. Dr. Bell's passions are high risk obstetrics, improving maternal mortality rates and improving perceptions of the in-hospital birthing experience. Dr. Bell also serves as the OB/GYN Clerkship Director for the 3rd year medical students. She finds joy in teaching both medical student and residents. She has received the Counsel on Resident Education in OB/GYN National Faculty Award for her efforts in that arena. She is a member of the Society of OB/GYN Hospitalists, the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics and of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists where she serves on the Patient Education Review Panel.
