Biography
Dr. Thompson obtained her Doctor of Health Administration degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center, following her completion of Master of Science in Nursing and Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees from Alcorn State University.
A licensed registered nurse with two decades of experience in healthcare, Dr. Thompson specializes in pediatrics and women's health services. Her extensive background encompasses direct patient care, teaching licensed and aspiring health care professionals, and leading teams in clinical and academic settings.
Joining the academic mission of UMMC in 2017, Dr. Thompson served as adjunct faculty before becoming the Director of Instructional Development and Distance Education for the School of Health Related Professions later that year. In October 2023, she also assumed the role of the inaugural director of the Office for Academic Innovation, which also oversees duties entrusted to the Office of eCampus, a department Thompson has served as director since August 2022. In addition to her education administrator roles, she is an Associate Professor and serves as faculty for the Health Sciences, Doctor of Health Administration, and Academic Information Services departments.
