Biography
Robin Parish MA, OTR/L, CHT was born and raised in Pearl, MS. In 1996, she received her Bachelor of Health Science and Masters of Arts in Occupational Therapy from Touro College in Dix Hills New York. Upon Graduation she began working at St Dominic Hand Management Center as a Hand therapist. In 2003 she obtained her board certification in Hand Therapy (CHT) and was promoted to Clinical Coordinator of the Hand Management Center, a position she held until August 2012. In 2012 she began serving as Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and is currently in the process of obtaining her degree in the Doctor of Health Administration program at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
In addition to hand therapy, Robin has experience and interest in the areas of Myofascial Release, Ergonomic Evaluations, Job Site Evaluations, Physical Agent Modalities and Functional Capacity Evaluations.
She is an active member of MSOTA serving on the Legislative task force with focus on advocacy efforts for Occupational Therapy in our state in relation to the current health reform issues. She has served on the MS State Board of Health Occupational Therapy Advisory Council from 2010 to present. Serving as chair from 2014 to present. She also serves on the Advisory Board for Holmes Community College from 2013-present.
Areas of interest in research include: A Systems Theory Approach to Non biomechanical issues of Carpal tunnel syndrome, Effects of Myofascial release on patients with Fibromyalgia and Conservative Management Techniques for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Conservative Management of various upper extremity disorders and the Advisor/Advisee Relationships within the Health professions educational process.
Other interests include outdoor activities, reading philosophy, painting, ole miss football and spending time with her family.
