Biography
Dr. Cody Pannell is an assistant professor who has served on faculty since 2018. Dr. Pannell received a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Mississippi College in 2010. He earned a DPT degree from UMMC in 2016 and completed a sports residency in physical therapy from UMMC in 2018. In addition to his teaching responsibilities within the entry-level physical therapy program, Dr. Pannell serves as the Director of the Physical Therapy Residency in Sports. He is an active research assistant for concussion intervention, and a community outreach representative for concussion education. Dr. Pannell is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy. He maintains current certifications in Emergency Medical Response, Basic First Aid and CPR, and Blood Flow Restriction. Dr. Pannell is also a current member of the Mississippi Physical Therapy Association, American Physical Therapy Association, and Sport’s Section of the American Physical Therapy Association. Dr. Pannell’s current scholarly agenda includes areas in orthopedics, sports medicine, pain modalities, and concussion. His current focus is technology in concussion rehabilitation utilizing virtual reality. He is a co-investigator for projects receiving grant funding that explores utilization of virtual reality for both the evaluation and treatment of sports-related concussion.
