Biography

Her nursing career began in 2002 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC), where she worked on an Internal Medicine/Infectious Disease Unit before transitioning to the Department of Hospital Education in 2004. As a Unit Educator, she supported multiple inpatient units, gaining extensive experience in staff development, clinical education, instructional program design, and hospital-wide training initiatives. She coordinated the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Nurse Residency Program and taught quality improvement principles across the organization. She completed the MSN Educator Track in 2010 and earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree in 2019.

She currently serves as an Assistant Professor, Simulation Educator, and Skills Coordinator at the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Nursing. In this role, she teaches undergraduate and graduate nursing students, as well as interprofessional learners, develops simulated patient care scenarios, prepares skills and simulation laboratories, oversees simulation operations, and facilitates structured debriefing sessions.

She is board-certified in Medical-Surgical Nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE). She is an active member of the American Nurses Association, the Mississippi Nurses Association (District 13), the National Association of Hispanic Nurses, and Sigma Theta Tau International, Theta Beta Chapter.
