Biography
Upon recruitment to UMMC in 1993, was tasked by the Administration to achieve AAALAC accreditation within five years. Instituted comprehensive programs and structures to address programmatic deficiencies. Achieved AAALAC accreditation in 1997. Coordinated successful submission of a CO6 grant in 1998 (A. W. Conerly, PI) that dramatically improved a primary animal environment of UMMC. Have strategically sought continual improvements in our programs and delivery of services to UMMC scientists, providing necessary skilled training, diagnostic services, animal model development, and regulatory guidance. Have managed business affairs to assure balanced budget. Directed re-organization efforts in 2015 to re-brand former Laboratory Animal Facilities into the Center for Comparative Research. Have successfully maintained full accreditation by AAALAC (recent re-accreditation in July, 2015). Have remained deeply involved in the AAALAC accreditation process, serving as a member of the AAALAC council since 2004, and as an Assistant Section Leader, Section Leader, Vice President, and President.
