Biography
Dr. Dossabhoy obtained his medical degree from the Aga Khan University Medical College in 1990, and was awarded the Begum Zia-ul-Haq Award for consistently standing in the top ten in his medical school class. He then pursued his post-graduate training at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, completing his Residency in Internal Medicine (1996) and Fellowship in Nephrology (1999). He practiced Nephrology and Internal Medicine at UT Health Carthage in Carthage, TX. He returned to full time academic Nephrology when he joined the LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport, LA, in January 2003; and rose through the ranks to attain full Professorship in 2014. He is dedicated to medical education, and has held several positions of academic leadership, including Education Coordinator for the Nephrology Fellowship for 11 years; Nephrology Fellowship Director at the VA Medical Center Site; Chairman of the Clinical Competency Committee and Member of the Program Evaluation Committee for the Nephrology Fellowship at LSUHSC-Shreveport. He was the Director of the CME Activity Program for the Nephrology Section at LSUHSC (2011-19).
In addition, he has been Chief of the Nephrology Section and Medical Director of the Dialysis Unit at the Shreveport VAMC since 2006. He joined UMMC in February 2019.
