Biography

Dr. Jacob Daniels serves as the Director of Research at the School of Health Related Professions and is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy. In 2016, he earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Mississippi Medical Center and began working at the university's outpatient physical therapy clinic. Dr. Daniels began serving as faculty mentor for the Physical Therapy Sports Residency Program in 2019 and transitioned to a fulltime faculty member in 2022. He also earned a Doctor of Education from the University of Mississippi, with scholarship focused on academic medical center governance. Dr. Daniels' research efforts focus on digital health innovation, thermoregulation, and telehealth applications to improve rehabilitation outcomes and patient access to care. As a result of his research efforts, he has maintained continuous grant funding since 2022. He is actively involved in academic and professional leadership, serving as Delegate for the Mississippi Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association, Chair of the SHRP Research Affairs Committee, Faculty Senator at UMMC, and Co-Vice-Chair of the Health Sciences Division of the Mississippi Academy of Sciences. Dr. Daniels is committed to mentoring students and clinicians while advancing interdisciplinary research and innovation in rehabilitation science.
