Biography
Dr. Ashok Kumar Coimbatore Jeyakumar (“Dr. C J”), is a highly trained, experienced, and accomplished adult cardiac surgeon with a wealth of expertise in performing routine and complex cardiac surgeries.
He completed his Cardiovascular and thoracic surgery residency from the prestigious, the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, an institute of national importance under the Government of India. After being in a high-volume private practice for a few years, he moved to the U.S and further honed his skills by completing a highly competitive Advanced Adult Cardiac Surgery fellowship including a dedicated TAVR Fellowship from Emory University, Atlanta, GA (2017-2019). He then proceeded to complete another highly competitive Robotic and Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery Fellowship from the prestigious Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OH (2019-2020).
He then joined the University of Mississippi Medical Center as an Adult cardiac surgeon in August 2020. With an extensive background in the field, he has successfully performed a wide range of routine and complex cardiac surgeries with unwavering precision.
Among his many areas of specialization, Dr. C J has developed a profound proficiency in advanced coronary revascularization surgeries, and truly shines in complex thoracic aortic surgeries. To stay at the forefront of medical advancements, Dr. C J embraces innovative approaches, including robotic and minimally invasive cardiac surgeries thereby enhancing patient outcomes by minimizing scarring, reducing recovery times, and improving overall well-being. He is currently the Surgical Director for Advanced Coronary Revascularization and Complex Thoracic Aortic Surgeries at UMMC.
Beyond his technical expertise, Dr. C J embodies compassion and dedication, establishing a strong rapport with his patients and providing unwavering support throughout their medical journey.
