Biography

I am a tenure professor in the department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. I received the M.D. and a master’s degree in pharmacology from Central South University of China. I completed the join PhD program at Southern Illinois University school of Medicine and Central south university. I then continued postdoctoral training in pathology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. I served as an assistant professor in Pathology, and became associate professor of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University from 2002-2010. I joined the University of Mississippi Medical Center as an associate professor at Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology in 2011. I am Fellow of American Heart Association (AHA) and member of American Physiology Society. I have served as a grant reviewer committee of NIH, AHA and British Medical Research Council. I have been a part of a very successful research team that have been well-funded by NIH and AHA. My current research interesting is focus to understanding the intracellular molecular mechanisms that regulate coronary microvascular dysfunction, heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and diabetic cardiomyopathy, then, to develop novel gene therapies for the treatment devastating heart failure. I am the author of 83 peer-reviewed publications and currently funded by National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. I serves as Editor of Journal of cardiovascular pharmcology.
