Biography
Dr. Adam Byrd was born and raised in Louisville, Mississippi. After earning his bachelor's degree at the US Military Academy, he earned a commission and performed as an active duty cavalry officer in the US Army - including a 15-month tour to Iraq in 2003. Upon completion of his service obligation, he returned to his hometown of Louisville and purchased a landscape maintenance business. For a variety of reasons, he decided to attend medical school and earned his MD from the University of Mississippi in 2011. He completed a 5 year integrated internal medicine - dermatology residency at the University of Minnesota in 2016, earning the Rob Sias MD award for the physician to whom faculty would most likely refer their family. With the help of Dr. Robert Brodell and the UMMC leadership, Dr. Byrd opened a satellite dermatology clinic in Louisville, which serves as a regional office providing full-spectrum skincare for North Mississippi. Dr. Byrd is very active in training medical students, dermatology residents, and family medicine residents. He also works as a hospitalist at the local rural hospital and continues to serve in the MS Army National Guard as a Field Surgeon.
