Biography

William Black, MD, is a Professor of Dermatology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. A native of Brandon, Mississippi, he was a Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude graduate of Millsaps College ('01), and a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Medicine ('08). He completed his dermatology residency at the University of South Florida and went on to complete fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery at UT Southwestern in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Black was the first fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon at UMMC, and he has performed over 11,000 Mohs cases since joining the faculty. In 2018, Black started the first Mohs Micrographic Surgery fellowship in Mississippi and currently serves as fellowship program director. He is a frequent lecturer at local and national meetings and has published multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Black enjoys weight lifting and pickup basketball games. He loves to spend time with his wife Katie and two young daughters. He is an active member of the American College of Mohs Surgery and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, as well as the American Academy of Dermatology.
