Biography

Dr. Agha Wajdan Baqir assumed the position of Assistant Professor of Pathology within the School of Medicine at the Medical Center in July 2022. Dr. Baqir obtained his MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) degree in 2013 from the Services Institute of Medical Sciences in Lahore, Pakistan. Subsequently, he completed his internship at Services Hospital Lahore before transitioning to Shalamar Medical and Dental College as a Medical Officer in the Department of Pathology.

His professional journey led him to pursue residency training in anatomic and clinical pathology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, University Hospital of Brooklyn, NY, followed by a fellowship in Cytopathology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh. Throughout his residency, Dr. Baqir distinguished himself as Chief Resident for two consecutive years and contributed actively to various committees.

Dr. Baqir boasts extensive experience in both research and teaching, evident through numerous scientific publications and memberships in esteemed professional societies, including the American Society of Cytopathology, American Society of Clinical Pathology, United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, and College of American Pathologists.

His primary areas of expertise encompass Cytopathology, Thoracic Pathology, and Head and Neck Pathology, with additional responsibilities as the Director of Autopsy Services at UMMC. Dr. Baqir remains committed to the education of pathology residents and medical students, actively engaging in teaching endeavors within the institution.
