Biography
Dr. Bahadur proudly attended both medical school and Ophthalmology Residency Training at UMMC. After a fellowship at Duke University and five years in private practice in Charlotte, NC and Decatur, Georgia she returned home. She joined the faculty at Jackson, MS VA Medical Center in October 2009 and became the Residency Medical Education Site Director for the VAMC from October 2009 - July, 2017. She was named Chief of Ophthalmology at the VA in November, 2015 and has served in this role as well as other VA administrative leadership positions to date. In these capacities, she has ensured that ophthalmology residents receive the clinical and surgical skills necessary for successful completion of their residencies and career readiness. She trains residents clinically and surgically, supervises all other MD staff in ophthalmology department as well as oversees the ophthalmology clinical and surgical equipment, training sites, budget and supervisory needs. The residents have historically rated their VA training experience a highlight of their residency training in which she takes great pride. Her ability to navigate the federal VA system, years of experience, and ability to lead and multitask has served the program well in its success/relationship with the VA affiliate institution.
