Biography
Syed Hussain Abbas, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Pathology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He is a cytopathologist with clinical interests in cytopathology, thoracic/pulmonary pathology, head and neck pathology, fine needle aspiration, rapid on-site evaluation, and surgical pathology. He completed anatomic and clinical pathology residency at Rutgers Health/Saint Barnabas Medical Center and cytopathology fellowship at Geisinger Medical Center. His academic work includes clinical service, resident and student education, mentorship, telecytology implementation, laboratory leadership, national abstracts, peer-reviewed publications, a Springer book chapter, and College of American Pathologists CME/CE authorship. He received the UMMC Trailblazer Teaching Award and is a member of the Academy for Excellence in Education.
