The University of Mississippi Medical Center, School of Medicine will host the fourth statewide Rural Medicine Education Symposium, "The Rural Impact 2025," at 6-8:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, and 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, at The Westin Jackson.

Physician educators play a vital role in improving public health by providing patient care and developing comprehensive educational programs across the medical education continuum for students, residents, fellows, and practicing physicians. This symposium will offer a platform to share best practices for statewide medical and educational programs and address issues impacting rural health care nationwide.

Speakers include Dr. Loretta Jackson-Williams, vice dean for medical education; Dr. Daulton Newman; Dr. Ben Lambert; Dr. Jonathan Buchanan; Dr. Lakeisha Richardson, OBGYN; Dr. David Norris; Dodie McElmurray, RN, CEO of UMMC university and community hospitals.
