With Mississippi continuing to face some of the nation’s most challenging maternal health outcomes, a new partnership led in part by the University of Mississippi Medical Center aims to turn data into action. Through the Center for Optimizing Maternal Outcomes, health care leaders, researchers and community partners will work together to identify barriers, strengthen support for mothers and develop solutions designed to save lives.

Patients at Children’s of Mississippi got a taste of college football season during Tailgating with Friends, an annual Friends of Children’s event that brings Mississippi’s biggest football programs together for a morning of fun. Representatives from Jackson State, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Southern Miss joined patients for games, visits with mascots, cheerleaders and football players, plus plenty of popcorn and cotton candy.
