New Year, Renewed Commitment

Good morning and happy 2026!

09.jpgI hope everyone had a great holiday season and had an opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends. And to those who put in a shift (or two) on a holiday – thank you!

The calendar changed, but our commitment to our goals and strategic priorities never does. Together, we advanced patient care, expanded research opportunities and strengthened our educational programs – all while navigating rapidly evolving health care and academic landscapes. We are growing, but in measured, deliberate ways that can greatly impact our institution.

The Medical Center experienced a successful 2025, making strides in each of our mission areas and in communities all over the state. Challenges were faced, and solutions and teamwork got us through them. It was all possible because of your hard work, determination and unceasing consideration for your fellow Mississippians. Many of your faculty, staff and student colleagues had or led amazing accomplishments last year, and 2026 could be your year.

I appreciate all your work, and I’m honored to lead such a talented and dynamic workforce.

Let’s keep the momentum going in the second half of this fiscal year. Through our combined energy, we can accomplish all we set out to do in 2026 and move us even closer to A Healthier Mississippi.

Signed, Lou Ann Woodward, M.D.
