Expressions of Gratitude
Good morning!
I often celebrate the contributions of our workforce of thousands because they truly live out UMMC’s values of dedication and unwavering commitment to improving health care each day.
Today’s VC Notes is dedicated to 64 of these individuals pictured below who spent 25 years or more in continuous service to the Medical Center and to the people we serve. In total, these retirees have given a combined 1,738 years of their time, knowledge and skills to UMMC.
For that, I thank them.
Transitions in life are often difficult, especially for employees who bonded with colleagues for a quarter of a century or longer. Over those years, they created a work family, made friends and touched the lives of patients and families – some of whom they may have never met – in many ways. Their careers spanned the depth and breadth of the Medical Center – nurses, respiratory therapists, educators, account representatives, managers, physicians, administrative assistants, a pharmacist, a researcher, directors, specialists, technicians and information systems professionals. Amazing!
These employees exemplified dedication not just to a job but to a career and organization that helps Mississippians from across the state. I hope you will join me in wishing them well in this transition to a well-deserved retirement and into the joy of new adventures.
It’s my honor to recognize the leaders, caregivers and support staff who helped make a difference in health care and left a legacy of moving us closer to the goal of A Healthier Mississippi. Congratulations!
