Twas The Night Before. . .
On Christmas Eve, Clement Clarke Moore’s cherished poem, “‘The Night Before Christmas” comes to mind. In that classic tale, Santa comes to a house where “not a creature was stirring.”
Tonight at UMMC, though, many people are stirring. Checking vitals. Handling emergencies. Answering call lights. Cleaning rooms. Delivering supplies and food. The care goes on, as it does every night at Mississippi's only academic medical center.
Santa comes but once a year; UMMC delivers the gift of lifesaving care every day. YOU – the dedicated, talented, hard-working employees of UMMC – make this possible. I am always deeply proud of the work you do, but during the holidays and through whatever spiritual tradition you celebrate I especially appreciate the sacrifices you make to give patients the quality care they deserve.
To everyone at UMMC, and for the role you play in caring for your fellow Mississippians, I wish the happiest of holidays to all, and to all a good night.
