Almost two dozen Choctaw high school juniors and seniors took a 90-minute bus ride to the Medical Center last week for a morning of discovery. For several UMMC schools, it was a new recruiting opportunity; for the visitors, it was a chance to learn more about themselves and their health care dreams. |
| The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders opened in 1991 thanks to the hard work of the Junior League of Jackson. The Junior League is now helping fund renovations of the center with a $500,000 gift announced April 19. |

| Teaming up to surprise Children’s of Mississippi patients Saturday were mascots from Mississippi State and Jackson State and representatives from cheer and dance teams at the University of Mississippi. The group was in town for the Over the Edge with Friends fundraiser held by Friends of Children’s Hospital at The District. |
