It's been a long four months for Dr. Jason Parham and Dr. Bhagyashri Navalkele, and their days won't be getting much shorter in the weeks ahead. They're on the front lines of ensuring the Medical Center's COVID-19 response is as robust as it can be through best practices treatment of patients to control the highly contagious virus.

Dr. Alan Jones recently became the fourth UMMC faculty member to receive a Southeastern Conference Faculty Achievement Award. As a recipient of the honor, the professor and chair of emergency medicine is the University of Mississippi’s nominee for SEC Professor of the Year.

UMMC provides more than just medical care to patients and their families. Staff members from across the Medical Center - including the UMMC Reserves - keep patients' connections to their family members strong, even while visitations are limited during the COVID-19 pandemic.

When it comes to COVID-19, many of us have a lot to say. Emotions brought out by the virus can give us pause to reflect on how it has affected our daily lives, from social distancing to working from home to scrounging for meat at the grocery store. The Medical Center is giving its employees and students a creative outlet to let it all hang out - in 55 words or less.
