Providing care to patients while working to limit the spread of COVID-19 has UMMC and Children's of Mississippi specialists ramping up their telehealth efforts.

Each day, nearly 130 UMMC employees are being deployed to different areas to perform duties outside of their normal job scopes as the Medical Center prepares for a surge of COVID-19 patients expected to arrive in the coming weeks.

When social distancing goes to the next level and Mississippians shelter in place, many people are staying home by choice to help curb the transmission of COVID-19. Routines get a rest, fear becomes a focus and the "new normal" just isn't getting normal. Medical Center experts give advice on how to cope.

Beginning Tuesday morning, all UMMC employees will be required to wear masks to protect themselves and others from the spread of COVID-19. Medical Center leaders are asking members of the local community to make and donate home-sewn masks so manufactured masks can be conserved for medical professionals on the "front lines" of health care.
