The School of Dentistry’s fourth annual Dental Mission Week event will culminate tomorrow when about 400 Jackson Public Schools students will receive free dental care during Give Kids a Smile Day.

When she couldn't see the board at school, third-grader Grace Thaggard visited Dr. Kimberly Crowder, who determined inflammation in the child's eyes warranted a closer look. Thaggard was diagnosed with a condition that placed her at risk for autoimmune disorders. That is just one example of the types of diseases eye providers can detect during routine visits.

A cooperative venture between the UMMC Cancer Center and Research Institute and the Mississippi Museum of Art expands the museum’s efforts to employ the arts in ways that help cancer patients and survivors lessen their stress and increase their self-esteem.
