The University of Mississippi Medical Center Grenada and the UMMC Cancer Center and Research Institute on Wednesday officially opened an outpatient cancer care clinic and infusion services in Grenada.

UMMC celebrated 51 inventors on campus Tuesday as part of its first Intellectual Property Recognition Ceremony. Employees and students have produced a groundswell of innovations since 2018, illustrating the Medical Center’s creative spirit and dedication to finding new ways to build a healthier Mississippi.

For years, the Medical Center’s leader, Dr. LouAnn Woodward, has helped influence the direction of medical education and health care in this country and beyond. That tradition continues with her recent appointment to the organization that serves the national community of academic medicine.

They may be in-state rivals, but the University of Mississippi and Mississippi State University women’s basketball teams came up with a winning game plan this week: bringing joy to patients in the state’s only children’s hospital. Ole Miss players enjoyed drawing and playing video games with patients Monday afternoon before heading to Hattiesburg to play Southern Miss Tuesday, and the Lady Bulldogs stopped in this morning for fun and foosball prior to their 7 p.m. game at Jackson State University.

Several interesting events are scheduled for the upcoming weeks at the Medical Center.
