Families in south Mississippi are finding expert pediatric care closer to home, thanks to a commitment to the region by Children’s of Mississippi. Specialty clinics in Hattiesburg and Gulfport and four general pediatric clinic locations in Gulfport, Orange Grove, Bay St. Louis and Biloxi mean citizens in those areas now have the resources of a major medical center.

Last week, UMMC’s medical students weren’t the only ones seeking enlightenment in their new home on campus. Scores of academic professionals occupied the medical education building’s classrooms, lecture halls and coffee queues for the largest-ever assembly in the building.

Dr. Guy Giesecke, Children’s of Mississippi CEO, and Dr. LaDonna Northington, assistant dean for undergraduate programs in the School of Nursing, were among those raising funds for Friends of Children’s Hospital during the "Over The Edge" fundraiser last Saturday. Rappelling down the 14-story Trustmark building, volunteers raised more than $162,000 for the nonprofit organization.

Medical Center leadership is proud to acknowledge those employees who will celebrate service anniversaries during the week of April 23-29.
