Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks officers showed how they care for our state’s natural resources - including its children - by bringing Santa to Batson Children’s Hospital via airboat last Thursday. Santa delivered toys collected by the officers to make the holiday season brighter for patients and a check for the hospital’s child life programs.

A concern for her home state’s history with obesity and her relatives’ battles with weight motivated Kaitlyn Salter to pursue a research fellowship reserved for medical students – a quest that paid off when she was invited to present the results to a meeting of a worldwide organization and leading authority on children’s mental illnesses.
