When a 10-person team of Joint Commission surveyors descended upon UMMC last week, they left no stone unturned looking for compliance in key patient care areas. Although UMMC still has work to do, Medical Center leaders say front-line caregivers and administrators did a stellar job showcasing their professionalism and enthusiasm for patient safety.

Wigs help women navigate one of cancer’s emotional difficulties - hair loss - with their heads held high. Donors and UMMC Cancer Institute staff are working to make wigs available for women in treatment at the CI and to collect scarves, hats and caps for male and female patients.

Central and south Mississippi residents awoke to a transformed landscape last Friday after Winter Storm Benji descended with a rare form of precipitation: snow. Like the postal service, an academic medical center doesn't let a few snowflakes hinder business as usual. Students and employees alike were on campus to enjoy the snow day.
