Fourteen years after it began treating patients remotely, the UMMC Center for Telehealth has recorded patient interactions in 69 of the state’s 82 counties. It’s a national model for telehealth technology that has paved the way for a Center of Excellence designation.

As increasing numbers of children with serious health issues are living into adulthood, a key part of their care is ushering them from pediatric specialists to adult clinics. Leading this effort are UMMC’s Adult Congenital Heart Program and adult pulmonologists who treat young adults with cystic fibrosis.

Volunteers in UMMC's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit help patients reach developmental milestones by rocking, holding and interacting with them when their families cannot. New recruits to the effort - second-year occupational therapy students - are proving a boon for the babies and NICU staff alike.
