UMMC researchers soon will begin randomly approaching parents in the Pediatric Emergency Department to inquire about the availability of food for their children. It's part of a Children’s HealthWatch project aimed at eliminating food insecurity so children can live hunger free.

Dr. David A. Acosta, Association of American Medical Colleges chief diversity and inclusion officer, discussed the benefits of fostering inclusion excellence in academic medicine during his visit to the Medical Center Sept. 27. His talk was the first in the Distinguished Lecture Series sponsored by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.

Fanciful face paint, rocket-inspired art projects, sleight-of-hand by magician Dorian LaChance and decorations that were out of this world were all part of the fun at Mississippi Children’s Museum Day at Batson Children’s Hospital. The event, now in its second year, had a space theme and snacks and treat bags were handed out to patients and their families.

The University of Mississippi Medical Center garnered 121 new and renewed grants and awards during April-June 2017, totaling $28,327,709.61.
