Participating schools

Post-master's DNP early entry is offered to outstanding UMMC and Alcorn State University MSN students through a competitive selection process. Eligible students must have completed an entire semester of coursework in the respective UMMC or ASU MSN track prior to applying.

Progression and retention

To retain status as an early entry student, the student must meet the following conditions:

  • Maintain continuous enrollment in the UMMC or ASU MSN program;
  • Maintain a cumulative graduate GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale. Any grade less than a "C" in the MSN program will result in dismissal from the DNP Early-Entry program.

Matriculation into DNP program

Upon completion of the MSN program and receiving the Master of Science in Nursing degree, students, who meet the admission criteria for the DNP program and receive approval by the DNP program director, will be admitted directly into the DNP program.
