The Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the University of Mississippi Medical Center has a threefold mission to provide care of the highest quality to all patients; to offer state-of-the-art education and training in psychiatry, psychology and related fields; and to pursue research on the brain, human behavior and mental illness. For the adult psychiatrist, areas targeted for expansion include ambulatory services, consults for inpatient services and general emergency services. As a faculty member, the individual is expected to teach and provide clinical services. In addition, there are opportunities to conduct research within the department or elsewhere at UMMC.
