The Bachelor of Science in Histotechnology (BSHTL) consists of five semesters of formal didactic and clinical education for students seeking to gain education in the science of histotechnology. Students in the BSHTL program will learn standardized laboratory skills and methods such as tissue fixation, processing, embedding, sectioning and staining.
Graduates who successfully complete 64 semester hours in UMMC's School of Health Related Professions (SHRP) Histotechnology program will be eligible to apply to take the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Histotechnologist (HTL) examination.
