Despite a pandemic that just won’t quit, UMMC faculty and students made all the difference in creating a healthier Mississippi in 2022. From celebrating transplant and fundraising milestones to providing innovative, state-of-the-art care, the Medical Center kept a sharp focus on its missions of health care, research and education.

Years of audits, training for health care providers and education for parents have resulted in the Medical Center becoming the first in the Jackson metro area to be redesignated as a Baby-Friendly Hospital as part of a global program sponsored by the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund.

Brittany Mack is a longtime registered nurse, but she’s using those skills to transition into a new passion: heading up the Medical Center’s Volunteer Services.

Medical Center faculty and staff often are recognized regionally, nationally and internationally for their academic or medical achievements. These accolades place UMMC among health science centers worldwide.
