The Kathy and Joe Sanderson Tower at Children’s of Mississippi more than doubles the square footage devoted to pediatric care at UMMC. The tower, a complement to the Blair E. Batson Tower, includes private intensive care rooms for newborns and children, a dozen state-of-the-art surgical suites, a pediatric imaging center and an outpatient specialty clinic for follow-up care.

When New York City-area residents by the thousands were infected with COVID-19, Dr. Saurabh Chandra was a front line innovator in harnessing telehealth to help care for the crush of patients. In this defining time, the critical care physician now offers his expertise to the Medical Center as the Center for Telehealth's new leader.

UMMC received a record 347 extramural grants and awards in the last fiscal year, demonstrating a diverse research portfolio that will help power the Medical Center for years to come. The $82 million funding haul is also the second-largest in UMMC's history.
