Disney princesses, cowboys, candy, game pieces and ancient Greeks are out and about in the children’s hospital today. From costumed care team members to “reverse” trick-or-treating with goodies delivered to children’s hospital patients’ doors, festivities for Halloween have brightened the week for everyone.

Thousands of people coping with advanced or end-stage kidney disease are put on a wait list for a new organ from a deceased donor, but the wait can last from three to five years, at least. A living donor can cut that wait to mere months and give the recipient a better chance for a healthy, long life.

A new affiliation between Southwest Health System in McComb and the Medical Center will strengthen and expand health care services in southwest Mississippi.
