UMMC and Murrah High School’s Base Pair program has been sparking scientific interest in students for 27 years. Last week, the University of Mississippi recognized the research mentorship program as one of its best partnerships by honoring Base Pair with an Excellence in Community Engagement Award.

Patients and their family members are helping improve care experiences at UMMC by serving with hospital leaders on advisory committees. Starting with Children’s of Mississippi’s FAST and the NICU’s N-FAST, the movement toward these advisory boards continues with UH’s Patient and Family Advisory Council.

For some, it’s the worst moment of their lives: A family member dies and leaves a hole in their hearts. But the organs of many live on in the bodies of recipients in need of a transplant. Each spring, UMMC and MORA recognize the families who turn their losses into life by donating their loved one’s organs.

Several interesting events are scheduled for the upcoming week at the Medical Center.
