Robotic surgery isn’t a new procedure, but advances in the technology are allowing surgeons to expand its use. Medical Center surgeons not only use the more minimally invasive procedure to give patients a quicker recovery and fewer complications, but they’re also preparing the next generation of surgeons to use it through hands-on experience and simulation training. |
| Medical Center employees and students are encouraged to donate as a community during a campus blood drive Tuesday and Wednesday. It’s in response to a statewide shortage being experienced by Mississippi Blood Services that has impacted the Medical Center’s blood supply and raised the possibility of postponing elective surgeries. Just as importantly, a shortage can make it difficult to care for trauma and transplant patients who often require multiple units of blood. |
The School of Dentistry is gearing up for its third Dental Mission Week, a weeklong event where volunteer teams from the University of Mississippi Medical Center and local dental practices serve the community by providing free dental care to children, adults and veterans in Mississippi. | |
