Researchers seq-ing for answers in the genome

UMMC has joined SouthSeq, a study that will use whole genome sequencing to find genetic differences that may affect the health of neonatal intensive care unit patients. Spread across three states, the project also hopes to increase access to genetic medicine and technologies in underserved communities. UMMC plans to recruit 500 participants over the next four years.

2017 Sanderson Farms Championship winner Ryan Armour traded the greens of the Country Club of Jackson for the Rainbow Garden of Batson Children’s Hospital Monday. In town for the tournament’s media day, Armour spent an afternoon putting with patients. Sanderson Farms Championship host Century Club Charities donated $1.2 million from the 2017 tournament to Friends of Children’s Hospital.
