Tears fell as patients showed off dentures crafted by second-year dental students. A newly redesigned course in the School of Dentistry offers a hands-on learning experience for students and free dentures for the community.

The late Dr. Connie McCaa touched the lives of many patients over the years, restoring their eyesight and promoting their safety through countless hours of advocacy on their behalf. The beloved ophthalmologist’s contributions to research and acts of personal kindness have inspired the creation of an endowed fund that carries her name.

A tour of Batson Children’s Hospital was all it took for Dave and Priscilla O’Donnell to pledge $1 million to the Campaign for Children’s of Mississippi to create a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Cardiac Wing in the new children’s tower. Construction of the tower is set to start later this month.

The University of Mississippi Medical Center garnered 99 new and renewed grants and awards during July through September 2017, totaling $27,174,811.
