Dr. Lirette obtained his BS in mathematics and MS in statistics from Mississippi State University, he began working as a biostatistician at UMMC while simultaneously pursuing a PhD in biostatistics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He has been involved in collaborative biostatistics across both UMMC and the entire US, ranging in areas from basic science to geriatrics to radiology to finance. He is the biostatistics core director for the Center for Excellence in Perinatal Research and the Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design (BERD) Core lead for the Mississippi Center for Clinical and Translational Research. He is an expert in the Stata programming language, and his main methodological interests lie in the philosophy of science, statistics in medical imaging, effective collaborations, data smoothing, and resampling.
