UMMC and Non-UMMC Joint Providership Activities

Thank you for your interest in receiving information regarding joint sponsorship of a continuing medical education activity. The University of Mississippi School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to sponsor and jointly provide continuing medical activities. Compliance with ACCME Essentials and Guidelines for Accreditation of Sponsors of Continuing Medical Education and the Standards for Commercial Support of Continuing Medical Education is not optional but required by accredited sponsors of CME. The Standards apply to jointly provided as well as sponsored activities. Compliance for ADA CERP dental credit, ACPE for pharmacy credit, and MNF/ANCC for nursing credit is adhered to as applicable.

In accordance with the guidelines for Accreditation of Sponsors of Continuing Medical Education and the Standards we must be very careful that we do not simply endorse someone else's CME activity. This means when jointly providing an activity for credit we take on the direct responsibility for the planning, development, implementation and on-going evaluation of the activity. In order to accept this responsibility, a University of Mississippi School of Medicine faculty member and staff member of Continuing Health Professional Education must be involved in program-related activities from program inception to program conclusion. The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) looks to our CME office, not the joint sponsor, to document the means by which compliance with each Essential for Accreditation is met. Compliance with other applicable accrediting bodies will be adhered to as appropriate.

By completing and signing this application you are stating your willingness to enter into an agreement with UMMC and will abide by University of Mississippi Medical Center policies and procedures as well as the criteria for applicable credit for your activity.
